GLOBE India is cross-party group of legislators, working to play critical role in guiding public policy on environment and sustainability issues at national level and balanced position in international policy framework. GLOBE India is the country chapter of GLOBE International and registered as an independent trust in India as per the provisions of Indian law.
At a well-attended ceremony on 31 January, 2013, former UK Deputy Prime Minister and GLOBE International Vice President Lord John Prescott inaugurated the new GLOBE India office in New Delhi and presented the 3rd edition of the GLOBE Climate Legislation Study to GLOBE India members. The study was released by Lord Prescott along with GLOBE India’s first President Prakash Javadekar at Constitution Club of India, New Delhi.
GLOBE India endeavors to play the role of an enabler for state and regional initiatives on Forest, Mountain, Coastal, Desert and River and engage with Members of Parliament, Members of Legislative Assemblies, Environment Ministry of various states, Administrative officials, academicians and experts representing the state on Environment, Climate Change and sustainability issues.
